  • SING

The sun is shining somewhere above the clouds

There is joy that will resurface from somewhere beneath the shrouds

Don't let circumstances of life keep you down for long

No matter how grim it seems, your heart still holds a song.

Sing to allow the clouds to move and the sun will shine right through.

Sing to shed the shrouds of doubt that have hindered you.

Sing the songs of hope and joy and you will not be down for long

Clouds will not stay and doubt can't sway

As long as you sing your heart's song.

  • THE LIGHT OF HOPE

it doesn't matter what battles we face or what trials we are in the midst of, we must hold on to the faith and the hope that all things work together for good and that God hasn't forsaken us. It doesn't matter that almost all of my bills are past due, and that i need $2000 to fix the transmission in my vehicle, and that i need $1,000 to cover my husband's surgery, and that my children are upset because i don't have the money for school supplies, and the list could go on. i read a statement once, " Due to recent budget cuts, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off." i don't believe that God is having any budget cuts and i know he knows what we have need of before we even ask. it is just a matter of having enough faith to ask and then enough hope not to  worry about it anymore. but, because we are human, we have foolish thoughts sometimes. this poem came to me in the midst of one of those foolish thoughts. when i began writing it was all negative because it was what my mind was telling me and then after the first two lines, I feel that God was trying to remind me that he is still here and he is touched with the feelings of my weaknesses.

    THE LIGHT OF HOPE

The light of hope seems incredibly dim

and the future, my friend, looks terribly grim

one thing is certain, despite all your fretting,

there is something you are surely forgetting

it is that the battle isn't over and the struggle hasn't ended

when it is all said and done, your wounds will be mended

the war is still raging and the enemy has not prevailed

when it is finished, you'll see that the enemy has failed

so just keep on fighting, don't back down and hide

because the Light of Hope is that the Lord's on your side.

  • cutting ties

    Sometimes there comes a time

When you must learn to cut ties

When your spirit longs to soar

And those ties are keeping you

From being what God wants you to be

    When those ties

Seem to fetter you to the ground

It is time to sever them.

It is time to cut off the dead weight

    The unfruitful labor

    The hindering load.

It is time to be the victor

That He has called you to be.

  • the longest computer fast ever (maybe not)

well, it was the middle of April and i was spending much time with my beloved computer. so much so that my husband called for a computer fast. well, at first let's just say i was a little bit less than "submissive" with my attitude. we fasted from the computer for six long weeks. the day came for me to hook it back up and really i wasn't overjoyed about it. i just really needed to pay some bills and get my brain back together. when i plugged everything back into its proper place, nothing happened except a little alarm went off and the computer wouldn't come on. out of frustration, i just let it sit inside my desk for a few days before i took it back to the store from which i purchased it (thankfully, it was still under warranty). they gave it back to me in about a week and said nothing was wrong with it. i had it on for 24 hours and it cut off twice and the second time it wouldn't come back on. i took it back the next day and it should have been done by July 1. That didn't happen. I got my computer back on the 13th (with a new hard drive installed). the fast taught me a thing or two. if you think you absolutely cannot live without something, you probably can. if having something taken away from you makes you angry for more than a few minutes, you probably needed to give it up for a little while. sometimes we give things up willingly, and other times we don't. our flesh screams out that it's too much of a sacrifice. i wondered during the fast what people did a hundred years ago. we often look back at history and see the simplicity of the past and wish things were that simple today. we are the ones who have a perception of complexity. really, we have washing machines now. we have cars, microwaves, cell phones, and high speed internet. it's when we get back to the basics of falling in love with a never changing Savior, that all these other things take their proper place in the perspective of things. i don't want to be guilty of putting more time and effort into something that is temporal than i do in my relationship with God.
